Tony Coggins – leads on promoting mental wellbeing

Tony Coggins is based in Australia at the University of Wollongong where he is Student Resident Manager. He set up, and is a former Head of Mental Health Promotion at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. He was instrumental in developing the Mental Wellbeing Impact Assessment and the Wheel of Wellbeing. Implemental uses both these techniques to help clients promote mental wellbeing.

In 1991, he co-founded Status Employment, a south London-based charity that helps people who have mental health problems or a disability to find and retain a paid job.

John Manley – leads on Mental Health Awareness Workshops

John Manley is a consultant clinical psychologist at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) where he is clinical director for Lambeth Talking Therapies (part of Improving Access to Psychological Therapies, the UK programme that offers psychological therapies in primary care). He is also Head of Psychology and Psychotherapy for the Mood, Anxiety and Personality Disorder Clinical Academic Group at SLaM.

He is a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) practitioner and teaches CBT in London and around the world.

He has worked in primary care-based mental health services for 25 years and has expertise and experience in service re-organisation, the development of different care pathways and referral routes, and the design of triage and referral systems.

Ann Watts – leads on ‘Learn and Observe' Specialised Services Placements

Ann Watts worked for the NHS since 1986 as a general and psychiatric nurse, and then from 1992 as a manager. She is now retired.

As a manager, she played a pivotal role in moving hospital-based services to the community and has been involved in a number of other change management, service development and organisational development programmes. She managed forensic mental health services in two London boroughs, and worked as clinical advisor to architects designing a new 89-bed purpose build medium secure forensic unit. For the same project, she advised on the development of the business case, the service model, operational policies and planning the phased opening of the new unit.
